The state of California attracts many people from all over the world to live in this beautiful country of Sierra Nevada Mountains, exquisite beaches, giant redwood forests, Mojave Desert and temperate climate which is perfect for outdoor activities. San Diego, CA

San Diego is California’s second largest city and the birthplace of California. It is definitely known for its gorgeous and extensive beaches, great and spicy Mexican food, U.S. Navy harbor and major attractions like Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and others to name a few. This is also where you’ll find development center for healthcare and biotechnology discovering how to combat certain diseases. Balboa Park

Balboa Park is a horticultural haven. It is named after Vasco Nùñez de Balboa and houses the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden which has different varieties of roses numbering to a 130. It has an area of 1,200 acre or 490 hectares of land. Aside from the natural vegetation zones and gardens, you will find museums, many theatres and the ever famous San Diego Zoo.

San Diego Zoo developed from the exhibitions of exotic animals that were abandoned after the Panama-California Exposition in 1915. It presents 3,700 animals that came from a species of 650 including those that are rare and endangered. The zoo has a tour bus that can roam about 75% of the park and gondola lift which is called Skyfari where you can get a nice view of the zoo from above.


SeaWorld is a park for animals, specifically marine mammals, oceanarium and outside aquarium. This is owned by SeaWorld Entertainment and is situated in San Diego, California. It was founded by four graduates from the University in California in March 21, 1964. A different idea came into their minds since underwater restaurant is not possible and that is how SeaWorld was established. It provides several activities that a day will not be enough for you to enjoy all of its facilities.

Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles or L.A. is the second largest city in the U.S and is the most populated city in California. It was nicknamed City of Angels and considered a global city for a lot of reasons – medicine and research, international trade, entertainment, business strength, fashion, media, sports, science and technology and many more. The people who live in Los Angeles are called Angelenos.

San Francisco, CA

Golden Gate Bridge

It is a bridge that connects two bodies of water, the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Captain John C. Fremont named it Chrysopylae in 1846 which means «golden gate». International Orange was the color of the sealant being used to the bridge to prevent corrosion and eventually used the same color to paint the astonishing bridge. This color has been used in aerospace industry to differentiate things from their surroundings.

Fisherman’s Wharf

It is a neighborhood as well as a tourist attraction where it surrounds San Francisco’s northern waterfront area. It got its name and the neighborhood distinguishing traits when Italian fishermen migrate to the city because of gold rush. The city got its name from the Sacramento River which name was given by Gabriel Moraga, an officer of Spanish cavalry. The name was Santisimo Sacramento which means Most Holy Sacrament that refers to Catholic.

The place has a Mediterranean climate often described as having mild winters and summers that are hot and dry. It rarely snows in Sacramento and has been prominent to be the sunniest place on earth for three consecutive months starting July. Sacramento is also known as «America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital». It is because many restaurants procure their food supply for the restaurant directly from the local farmers in the city’s vicinity. Raging Waters Sacramento

Raging Waters Sacramento is a water theme park situated on the Cal Expo located in Sacramento, California. The former name of the park was WaterWorld USA and Six Flags WaterWorld. Some of the slides and attractions from this water park are Treehouse Reef which is a water playground for the kids, Cliffhanger which is a two 60 ft. tall speed slides and the Splashdown which are two short slides ending with a six-foot plunge into a 10 foot pool.

The California Exposition and State Fair (Cal Expo)

Cal Expo was established by law in California Food and Agricultural Codes. It hosts trade and business events, collectible trade shows. This is where the local food and crops including farm produce are showcased. It also features other attractions like the Monorail and the Magnificent Midway.

Fresno, CA

Fresno is situated in the middle of San Joaquin Valley. Its name was derived from Fresno which is a Spanish word for «ash tree» that flourish the banks of San Joaquin River in Fresno. The county was established after the California Gold Rush in 1856. The climate is described as semi-arid and is mild and moist during winter and hot and dry during summers. Fresno is also known as the «raisin capital of the world».

Forestiere Underground Gardens

Forestiere Underground Gardens will be found in West Shaw Avenue. It is a manmade structure built by Baldasare Forestiere who migrated from Sicily. The main reason it was constructed is because of the hot humid weather typically in Fresco. There are three levels in this underground garden – 10, 22 and 23 feet deep respectively. It shelters plants trees of which some are almost a100 years old. These plants and trees include berries, citrus and exotic fruits like jujube, kumquat and loquat and are kept here to protect it from the winter’s frost.

Fresno Chaffee Zoo

Fresno Chaffee Zoo is located in Roeding Park and is a zoo with different animal species and offers giraffe feeding. The zoo was established around 1908 and the first animals were donated by Sezer Tamcakir. The zoo expanded to an area of 18 acres last January 2014 for the opening of «African Adventure» by the summer of 2015. Some animals that you may find in the zoo are Malayan tapir, red wolf, ring-tailed lemur, Mexican red-kneed tarantula and siamang among others.
